Who runs this site

This is the personal website of Lucia Verdini, who is also the data controller for any personal data collected through it. For any request, write to lucia.verdini10@gmail.com.

What data is collected

The site has no forms, no registration, and no analytics, advertising or profiling tools. It uses no cookies, either first-party or third-party, and loads no content from other websites.

The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc., based in the United States. Like any hosting service, Netlify automatically logs some technical data about visits, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to run the site and protect it from abuse. Netlify processes this data under its own privacy policy. I do not use it to identify visitors.

If you email me, I will use your address and your message only to reply. I do not share them, and I delete them when they are no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation 2016/679) you can ask me at any time to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict its use or to object to its processing, by writing to the address above. If you believe your data is being handled improperly, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it).

The people I write about

The research diary tells the story of my great-great-grandfather, Francesco Piersigilli, and of the people who lived near him in Trenton between 1913 and 1918. Everyone named died many decades ago, and the information comes from public archival records or from my family's memory. If you are a descendant of any of these people and would like something corrected or removed, please write to me and I will gladly do so.

Rights to texts and images

Texts, photographs, videos and the poster are by Lucia Verdini unless stated otherwise, and may not be reproduced without permission. Family photographs belong to the Piersigilli family.

Historical documents (passenger lists, draft cards, certificates, censuses, newspapers and period photographs) are reproduced from public archives and, to the best of my knowledge, are in the public domain. Sources are given in the captions where known. If you believe you hold rights to an image published here, please write to me and I will remove it or add the correct credit.
